Nzomo is correct. I work with Video transfer equipment and am certified in the editing process on the Mac, the fastest transfer, infact all pro and semi pro camera's only utilize Firewire 400 ports for transferring video data from the camera to the computer. It does however depend in today's time what camera you're using. Certain camera's now come with different recording modules which can also determine this path.
