A thread that will not go away : Is it time for change?

This thread is a reminder that I'll send out each month until we reach our objectives. We are still in need of making a move to the web forum + mailing list. The previous thread was called " Is it time for Change? " and you can follow the discussion that took place. We need the change, whether it takes days weeks or months. SkunksWorks KE wishes hear from you and solutions that can get the implementation going. If in doubt please do not hold back. Shoot your questions. Thank you. :-) Rgds.

Aki, Pardon my confusion here. Why haven't you already set up the web forum? As I understand from your post last month there was a lot of enthusiasm for the idea, from moderators and participants. So what exactly are you waiting to hear before you move ahead? or who are you waiting to hear from? In fact there is already a forum, you already have content due to your brilliant idea to have different people champion different threads. So who or what are you waiting for? -- Pamoja e:daudi.were@gmail.com <e%3Adaudi.were@gmail.com> skype: d.were

Hello @Daudi, Thnks for the questions. At the moment we are stagnant at putting together a technology small team and so its purely a tech issue. Integrating the current site with the mailing list is an issue as 2 platforms have been suggested but not tried. We are in need of implementers. @Frankline Chitwa has so generously offered to help out and we are in need of more poeple. Assuming we can build the team, we await their assessment on the overall process and timescale. Once the options have been concluded, the list may want to vote forward as some technology changes may affect some things or have very minimal changes. That is my understanding so far. Corrections welcome. Rgds. On Tue, Aug 3, 2010 at 1:37 PM, Daudi Were <daudi.were@gmail.com> wrote:

Aki, Skunkworks list keep going down these days! Is it part of the conspiracy to move to some forums? :) Anyway, I believe skunkworks projects never take off because there is no team coordination! Not that I am willing to coordinate an amorphous team of techies, but maybe I can spare time to install/configure/secure the application of choice once the group agrees on what it is. Personally, I love using e-mail and as such if "that agreed" application cannot send me and allow me to reply to e-mail, I'll immediately go MIA. Now, to stop you from posting this on a monthly basis, please collate what members had suggested before and put the proposed apps to a referendum. Once the outcome is decided, give me access to the server so that I can install it and integrate with the MTA. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "If you have nothing good to say about someone, just shut up!." -- Lucky Dube

@Washington, thank you. The mail server part is as important as the web forum. Will add you to the technology team. Rgds. On Tue, Aug 3, 2010 at 2:34 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com> wrote:

If a solution is chosen that does not support publishing via email out of the box we could write a Python script for this. Assuming the email address sent to for publishing has a strong spam filter so we do not have to worry about that. On 08/03/2010 06:52 PM, aki wrote:

I think I can do the spam filtering bit as well during integration with the MTA. My favorite MTA is Exim, just so that the rest of the implementation team can know in advance.
