Is safcom replacing traditional ISP's

Hi listers, I have been following the Fibre hullabaloo with keen interest hoping to go to the office and find my ISP has decided to offer us a 1 MB pipe for the same amount we are currently paying but that has not been the case that I am tired. Some time back on this forum I read a post that in SA the ISP's had already dropped their prices long b4 the fibre landed. The question or point of interest is Safcom,do these guys want to replace traditional ISP's? I mean look at their data services now, I have always tried to give them deaf ears coz of how they seriously go for your wallet but hey I gonna give em credit now. Look at their speeds now - for them its not a thing of we are testing our service on fibre as has been the talk from with other ISP's who are now targeting Rich estates for their Internet services not forgetting that those bosses use laptops hence modems which is faster hence rarery use Internet at home. Im not a Literature writter but my worry or concern or prayer is for these ISP's to stop playing safe and dive into business with all there is to offer coz I think it will be too late for them when Safcom has finally established good, strong and deep roots in data business like the have done in GSM (now even toppling or coming close to threatening their client base is a nightmare enuf). I think this is very serious guys, U know Kenyans once they find or create a trend and to be sincere one of the Big banks here is already using Safcom Broadband services for WAN communication. My call is to these ISP's to stop acting so co-operate!!! Cheerz Themburu -- Conservatism is the adherence to the old tried against the new untried.

I think its a good thing. High time we gave business to someone that knows how to do business. On 8/8/09, George Njoroge <themburu@gmail.com> wrote:

i once woke up at 6:30 to go for a campo trip and called my buddy to pitia me we go get the bus. kumbe the guys: to my shocker, had left at 4 in the morning. same case for the ISPs, 6:30 is fast approaching n safcon is already miles ahead, on technology that is not really broadband. who cares when all kenyans: albeit most of us, is check mail, and FB, on MOBILE DEVICES!!!! I presume the death or "malnuitrition" of most ISPs, compounded with the unified licensing framework licences given by CCK. honestly, you just gave the big boys much space to bully the small start-ups. watch and c. Hi Collins, Im not worried about Safcom leading the market what im more worried is when they take over the market and wel8r hav no choice of providers like we do on mobile services. Regards Themburu On Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 6:11 AM, dennis moshu <de2moshu@gmail.com> wrote:
