I have 2.1, I think the issue is the compatibility with the Nokia battery , also ,from the article posted, I really doubt if half-recharges is a good idea, though I noticed it happens when you are using USB (no option to turn USB-charging off)

Cheap and reliable, not in one, but Orange 3G+ might fit in somewhere close to that , but more on the cheap side. You have to pay for relaibility
