Advice on Server Purchase

Hallo Skunks, I am thinking of buying a server but I have limited experience with servers. I want to do file sharing in an office with 15 users. What would you advice me to purchase? -- Regards Makh' Sinja The market, like the Lord, helps those who help themselves. But, unlike the Lord, the market does not forgive those who know not what they do

Hi, A simple NAS storage should suffice if it's just for file sharing. Western Digital NAS devices are locally available. On 6 February 2014 13:10, jeremy sinja <jeysinja@gmail.com> wrote:

Depending on what else you would like to do in the future on the same investment, NAS is a good choice on storage but it restricts you to storage only. Probably an entry level server with high capacity disk space would be idea for you. This way you can virtualize part for storage and part for network software and databases.. Maximize the value as your office is not too big yet.. If you decide on a server we can send you something for consideration. i would recommend you go for the *CISCO UCS C22 M3* Rack server. it is a 1RU, 2-socket rack server design that combines outstanding economics and a density-optimized feature set over a range of scale-out workloads, from IT and web infrastructure of distributed applications. @Bwana Lawi, cloud has disadvantages that are not desirable. Skunks, The cisco rack server and the synology NAS Server have caught my attention. I was previously thinking of HP Envy On 2/7/14, Bwana Lawi <mail2lawi@gmail.com> wrote:
