To set up a cyber with 5 comps (2nd hand good ones with dvd drives and 512 MB, 20-40gb pentium 2-2.4 Ghz) costs about 100-120k. The desks for 5 comps will cost about 10-12k to build using some nice strong boards. (You can do the math for 10 comps). Young people like to be able to download movies, seriez (at reasonable speeds) - and you can introduce the option of them watching them online from sites like "oneclickseriez, oneclickmoviez" etc Apart from internet, you can set up PC games i.e an assortment of two-players for social kids; and solo missions games for older 'geek' kids who like to spend 4-6 hrs on a comp. E.g Mortal Kombat; Halo; Hitman etc Put attractive games and movie posters to make your target audience feel comfortable. Have some good speakers play radio music (cos siku hizi those Anti-piracy hooligans can seize your assets if you play mp3s) You still need a photocopier - 100k for a new one; about 40-50k for a second hand one. You may also need a printer - there are so many with different prices, the list is endless. But choose one you can fill the ink cartridge yourself. But if people are many for printing, you may have to buy a laser printer. Internet set up equipment will cost you about 20k - depending on which provider you take. Its usually more expensive in upcountry cos of lack of competition. Unfortunately, unless you take unlimited packages on the download/uploads; many companies will restrict you to 5-10gb - and any use above that has to be paid for [?] ... === Building a small Mpesa metal cage of around 3m by 1m - covered with strong metal sheets (for privacy and protection of the Mpesa assistant inside costs about Ksh. 60 - 70k ) This can occupy a corner inside the cyber should you wish. I hope this information helps you to do your estimates. w/regards Stephen N.

Oh, and dont forget to provide "game pads" for the games - to encourage your target kid audience to play the games. You may also offer beginner classes at a fee for those kids who have never touched computers before - basic stuff like "clicking" "going to the internet" "opening a facebook account" etc etc..
