If anybody is interested in OpenStack, I've created a new community with an Africa focus: https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/106463180296945913906 I'd love to get people in the group and interested in the technology and setting up all sorts of clouds in their data centers. I personally believe this is also a good skill-set for forward thinking tech people. If you disagree, just join the community and hopefully we can convince you otherwise :-) Cheers, Adam --- OpenStack for Africa: http://signup.kili.io Musings: https://twitter.com/varud About Adam: https://www.linkedin.com/in/adamcnelson

Reach out to the VMware guys. If I'm not wrong, VMware is a part of open stack. There's already a relatively large install base in .ke. Sent from my iPhone On 19 May 2013, at 11:17, Adam Nelson <adam@varud.com> wrote:

Yes, VMware is putting a ton of effort into getting vSphere to be a first class hypervisor - which AFAIK, it now is. They're also putting alot of effort into virtual networking (facilitated by Software Defined Networking or SDN) via Open vSwitch. SDN is the real game changer here. This allows a data center to have many servers and few switches and for L2-7 services to be handled by software running on all of the servers so that inter-instance/intra-server networking can be handled by the server and not requiring another piece of hardware to intermediate. http://blogs.vmware.com/vmware/2013/04/openstack-and-network-virtualization.... http://openvswitch.org/openstack/documentation/ -Adam --- OpenStack for Africa: http://signup.kili.io Musings: https://twitter.com/varud About Adam: https://www.linkedin.com/in/adamcnelson On Sun, May 19, 2013 at 8:07 PM, Phares Kariuki <phares.kariuki@gmail.com>wrote:
