@Mbugua, pls list or provide the link to Nokia KE developers so that we can learn more on the judging trends that Nokia may have followed. I think this info is very important. Cheers. :-)

@ Any Listers, would anyone be able to share the KE nokia developers and what apps they sent to Nokia for the challenge. According to Nokia on that page link ( *Humphrey Ngoiya* provided the links ) "says Helen Jarvis, services marketing manager at Nokia South Africa. "We look forward to working with the South African and African developer community going forward to continue providing the best mobile applications to consumers on the continent and worldwide." What African developer community is she referring to? Where are they? Sorry SA is not Africa on its own. We ( as listers ) need to look into Nokia's judgement and trends they considered to make the results. We should be able to compare our apps to those that won. Is Nokia telling us something? Can Nokia Kenya share more? Rgds. -- ( the rise of Yoda! Ready are you? What know you of ready? For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi......... )

Yeah, I echo @Aki here and encourage anyone on this list that sent in Apps to give us a heads up on what they sent in. Is there an African Developer Community other than the one in SA? Have stated this before, there cannot be one developer community anywhere as developers congregate around certain principles and technologies. One developer will be in a Java camp another at a .Net camp but they will meet in a Javascript or MySQL camp that is of interest to both of them. Anyway when are you going to be around next year to transfer to us some of the knowledge you are picking out there in the States?

I think this is an experience that simply tells us as developers that we now need more than ever to form and nurture the idea of developer communities in kenya coz frankly we won't go far as long as we continue to operate like this. These results come in at the right time when Murigi had started another thread about developer communities. You were so on point about it. @Murigi, I should be back in Kenya around about early march. I will keep you posted and let you know when am about to come over. @Steve, @Murigi : Honestly, maybe there is no one in KE who is a developer. And it may also be true that we are knocking on wrong doors? Assume that there is a need to start local dev communities, what's next? :-)

We have capable developers in Kenya who will deliver more as we persuade them to connect to each other to produce more notable stuff. If our software developers do not regularly invest 1K to 5K (like quarterly) to network with other developers and business / government executives, they should not expect to be taken seriously.
