Morning Guys,
From your worthy experiences, which network monitoring and management tool would you recommend at this time and age for a corporate of about 600 to 800 users.. I know there are myriad options out there but there must be one that is affordable and that gets the job done right..
Thanking you in advance for your advice.. Regards Oliver

What KPIs are you monitoring and for what type of elements? Commercial or FOSS? If commercial, Solarwinds is a good option for enterprise otherwise Cacti, Nagios or Zabbix would serve you well. On 1 Apr 2014 10:08, "Oliver Ndegwa" <olie.ndegwa@gmail.com> wrote:

This is more than monitoring and includes management. One system may not do all this so well but if it must be one, then a UTM would probably be it as advised by Tony. Check Cyberoam, Sonicwall for commercial and Untangle or pfsense for FOSS. On 2 Apr 2014 11:54, "Oliver Ndegwa" <olie.ndegwa@gmail.com> wrote:

Options to look @ Manage Engine Solar winds PRTG I`ve seen someone proposing SIEM, it won`t workings based on 3 things complex to configure, its main purpose is to corelate security events and very expensive. Cyberoam - Its usually @ the gateway thus, doesn`t monitor if your server or switch is up or down. On 2 April 2014 14:24, Alex Nderitu <nderitualex@gmail.com> wrote:

Good Old cacti does monitoring well, but when it comes to traffic management and prioritization, then I would go with what Tony recommended. Basically I would combine Cyberoam and cacti to achieve both affordably. On Thu, Apr 3, 2014 at 9:32 AM, Joe Maina <maina307@gmail.com> wrote:

Somethings are not worth monitoring on a lan like a switch up/down status.
