Blocked ports on Safaricom Fibre

Hi, Anyone here who has forwarded ports to an internal server on Safaricom home fibre noticed ports seem to be blocked now? It has been fine for ages, suddenly stopped around 25th November. Wondering if it's just an isolated incident or is happening to other users.

Confirmed with another user in a different location in Nairobi. Same thing external access blocked. No one here experiencing the same? On Sun, 29 Nov 2020, 10:04 John K., <kamau.john@gmail.com> wrote:

Morning. Noticed this happens especially after downgrading the bandwidth. Simon Mukundi On Wed, 2 Dec 2020, 19:56 John K. via skunkworks, <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Hi, Simon, Thanks for the reply. I've not downgraded or changed anything, just stopped working. How did you resolve this when it happened to you? Regards, John K. On Thu, 3 Dec 2020 at 07:24, simon mukundi <smukundis@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi, Yes I have, I've talked to sooo many call center guys, I think they all know me by now, hehe. They say the same thing, all they can do is help if my internet is not working, but things like this they can't, since according to them, ports are not blocked. So nijipange! They'd take it seriously if more people were affected. Regards, John K. On Thu, 3 Dec 2020 at 14:33, Michael Osimbo <michaelosimbo@gmail.com> wrote:

switch to 587 which is SMTP submit. Now commonly used in the net and standardised. 25 is now left mostly for relay between servers so will most likely be blocked last mile. On Fri, 11 Dec 2020 at 08:36, awatila--- via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Yes, I also got hit by this issue. Additionally, I had setup the Safcom modem as a bridge (with a Ubiquiti edge router as the PPPOE client [1] & router). They reset their device to the default router mode & locked me out. :/ A really meh experience! I’m considering going back to JTL... Aside: The edge router is a really nifty device. Esp if you flash it with OpenWRT, you can do: * DNS blacklists (block naughty sites for kids) * Traffic shaping & priority queue, * Multiwan bonding, * Wireguard VPN server (To access your home lan remotely) * Wake Up on LAN (remotely boot up your home PC for ssh) * Run asterisk (or ) With a huge RAM (256MB vs typical 8MB) & ROM space (250MB vs typical 32MB) ,Full Gigabit with POE goodness, In fact, it’s a no brainer if you are looking at the TPLinks/et al to consider this [2][3]. 1. https://www.ui.com/edgemax/edgerouter/ 2. https://optace.co.ke/product-category/ubiquiti/ubiquiti-routers/?orderby=pri... 3. https://openwrt.org/toh/ubiquiti/ubiquiti_edgerouter_x_er-x_ka Cheers, Laban

Hi, I'm not a network expert, have a very simple setup. Killed the wifi network offered by saf/zuku, and use my own Asus router to host my wifi network that is then wired to the saf/zuku one. I ended up going back to zuku, Safcom support were unable to assist me, so they lost a client hivyo tu. Zuku nothing is blocked, works as expected. Regards, John K.
