Got it! I assume the guards don't what my intention is and that they are not aware who I'm. I'll go to one of them and start a discussion without talking about gold. Then ask a question like, why stand here or what are you guarding? and, on assumption he is the dander, he might answer, am guarding silver, for example, and this would mean the other one is guarding gold.
