Hello TeamX, I am having a strange problem with Yahoo - that part of my network cannot load Yahoo Mail. My network layout is as follows: Bush_Location <C1811>--Netscreen--<Wi-Fi link>--Netscreen--<C1811> ---- <C850>-- Internet | | LAN0 LAN1 Bush_Location has a point to point link to LAN1, which is where I have the Internet breakout point. Users at LAN0 are unable to load mail.yahoo.com. It takes ages to load. Yahoo.com front page and all other links work fine. Only the mail part is giving problems. Gmail works fine too. Users at LAN1 have no problems at all. I am wondering what it is that could be affecting Yahoo mail only. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

Am not sure if you have found a answer to the issue. I can only think of two possible things to check. 1) the https handshake with yahoo please do a tcpdump and see what the problem is from any workstation that has a problem. The netscreen configuration maybe breaking the ssl session during the packet inspection process or some ssl weirdness taking place. 2) The IPs used on LAN0 could be inadvertently be the same subnet as the yahoo mail. I believe you have used rfc1918 address space - but then again always worth checking. my 2 cents!. Mich

No answers so far, except yours.
1) the https handshake with yahoo please do a tcpdump and see what the problem is from any workstation that has a problem.
If I go through a proxy server running at LAN1 end, then I don't have this problem. The netscreen configuration maybe breaking the ssl session during the packet
inspection process or some ssl weirdness taking place.
I asked my provider to check this, but the techie I found was a bit evasive, asking me to do traceroutes instead!
2) The IPs used on LAN0 could be inadvertently be the same subnet as the yahoo mail. I believe you have used rfc1918 address space - but then again always worth checking.
Of course. I am using 192.168.3.0/24 to be precise. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!
