Forget Samsung, this is who Apple should sue instead

Just came across this review on Cnet<http://www.cnet.com/products/xiaomi-mi-pad> of the Xiaomi Mi Pad (an Android powered tablet) made by Mi, a Chinese company that is bold enough to 'borrow' it's design ideas from Apple. These Chinese guys are good, the tablet has some pretty good specs other than the fact that it looks almost like the iPad mini down to even the Android skin that greatly resembles iOS7. Not sure if Apple will go after this Chinese company with a law suit but oh well.. As if the tablet is not that obvious, take a look at this product page from their website and see what it resembles: http://www.mi.com/en/redminote *Regards,* *Edwin Kyangangu* *- - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * *Tel: +254723859559* *Skype: edutchz* *Email: mail@edwin.co.ke <mail@edwin.co.ke>*

You pick your battles. IMHO the reason that Apple sued Samsung was the threat in market share, especially in America. On Thu, May 15, 2014 at 4:50 PM, Edwin Nguku <edwinnguku@gmail.com> wrote:

@ Eva If Apple dint want Samsung to copy them, then they should NOT be manufacturing their hardware in Samsung. By manufacturing in Samsung, they taught one who was crawling how to run. Wasnt it Steve Jobs who said: "Good artists copy" - when he ripped off the mouse from Xerox ? Karma right there !

@Ndungu, Apple actually licensed the mouse from Xerox PARC. And their implementation of the device worked. As he described it, Steve wanted a device that could work on a table, glass, and finally, on his lap. There is nothing wrong with licensing existing technology and making it better. That's the difference between Apple and Samsung. Microsoft also did licence the original Mosaic code for what was to become Internet Explorer. They wanted to get IE quickly to the market to beat Netscape. And the Mosiac had actually been developed by Marc Andreeseen while at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and the university held on to it. So Netscape had to develop a new browser from scratch. Only to watch as Microsoft come late to the game and license their original creation. Apple has called a truce with Google and is in talks with Samsung, allegedly for a truce. When both of you have money, and can afford the best of lawyers, the lawyers will keep winning. The complex nature of patents doesn't help. On 21 May 2014 18:34, "Philip Musyoki" <pmusyoki@gmail.com> wrote:

@ Phillip/Dennis You are right - yes Apple and Microsoft does absorb smaller company products for improvement and 'louder' launches to change industry direction. However, the media over the years has cast these moves by both Pioneers as sneaky and a bit anti-competitive. http://www.forbes.com/sites/hughmcintyre/2014/05/16/beats-by-dr-dre-is-worth...
