Skunks Suppose I take a 3G Modem, say from Safaricom, can I set it up to broadcast Internet to all Wifi enabled computers through a WiFi wireless router (Access Point). Assuming all I have is the 3G modem, a Wireless router(Level one or Cisco linksys), a computer/laptop with WindowsXP, Vista, or Windows7 Can the Access Point broadcast the Internet to all WiFi enabled devices? How would I go about it? You actually only need a computer with a wireless network card and a 3G modem. Since you are connected using the 3G modem your wireless card is free to create a hotspot. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=share+3g+connection But if you want a more robust and permanent solution it is better to get a Wireless 3G router that you put your 3G modem in. Odhiambo on this list sells this model: http://www.tp-link.com/products/productDetails.asp?class=3gr&pmodel=TL-MR342... On 09/15/2010 11:09 PM, Kivuva wrote:

Kivuva, if I get you right I have done it before using Dovado USB mobile broadband router. This was a year ago and we imported the routers to support a workshop of about a 100 people using safaricom modems. I'm not sure these routers are available locally. On 9/15/2010 11:09 PM, Kivuva wrote:

This should be fairly easy. If u have a linux box acting as ur router (Gateway) then u only need a Wireless AP to complete the setup. Wireless Users ------->AP------>LinuxRouter-->AnyModem Ur users should connect to the AP which in turn will direct their traffic to the Linux Router which in turn will connect them to the internet via the modem.
