Safaricom web hosting

Good people, What are your experiences hosting sites with Safaricom Domain Services? One major pro they have is that their servers are right here in .ke. But their support seems to be taking ages to respond to my questions, compared to number 2 on my list, sasahost.com, who have ridiculously fast response times, not counting the online chat thingy with their support peeps. Pls let me know your experiences before I commit myself. Much thanks!

Just go with sasahost. I have over 10 domains hosted with them and I have not had any problem. Plus their response and turnaround time is very quick. On Tue, Jul 17, 2012 at 12:08 PM, Peter Karunyu <pkarunyu@gmail.com> wrote:

@Charles, How I wish I had listened to you! Why do human beings (read me), continually go down dark alleys hoping all will be well, yet they know something bad is going to happen! 48 hours later, the domain I purchased as part of the personal package is still listed a available on Kenic whois query... Granted, they sent me cpanel details, but two support tickets go unanswered. To future Peter Karunyu's on this same quest, note the following: 1. Unless the world is ending, DO NOT buy a domain or hosting package from a company whose core business is not web hosting. 2. Good customer service beats locally hosted servers any time of the day, and night. 3. If you have to host abroad, you might as well go straight to the horses; 1and1.com, hostgator, godaddy etc. 4. If you do host abroad, make gzip, mod_expires and mod_headers your best friends, and memorize that post from Eugene Lidede on performance stuff. 5. See number 2 above.
