Nice site there. First thing I noticed, however, was the joomla favicon. Please get rid of that, and the images at the footer could go into a gallery, else you could use a nice scroller/slider to display them. Otherwise this Kitui villager appreciates the great work :-) ! The website infront of you is a Joomla site. This is Joomla country. Nice site, some comments: 1. On some drop down nav items, the text overflows the borders of the box. 2. Tidy up urls on inside pages 3. MySQL error on FAQ page 4. How about an online form for admissions? 2011/1/10 Ndungi Kyalo <ndungi@gmail.com>

My sentiments exactly Kyalo, if we can come close to what we are seeing here on mit.edu, then we would be headed somewhere. We can think outside the box create our own trend too. As far as Joomla is concerned, it may be overused, but does this mean that its potential has been explored? I doubt it. On Mon, Jan 10, 2011 at 11:38 AM, Ndungi Kyalo <ndungi@gmail.com> wrote:

That MIT site is not a good web site, it does not use Joomla

The problem is that everyone uses the *same* structure and template for Joomla sites... And it's typically the same template... Given that the basic design of this template has not changed drastically since the days before Joomla forked from Mambo, it's like looking at the same website for the last 8-9 odd years... I had my first experience with Mambo in 2004... It's just painful that websites look exactly the same.... Have a look at the websites below that were http://www.lincoln.ox.ac.uk/ <http://www.lincoln.ox.ac.uk/>http://dickey.dartmouth.edu/ <http://dickey.dartmouth.edu/>http://marcos.com/ <http://marcos.com/>http://www.mb-photography.com/ <http://www.mb-photography.com/>http://allstarscreenprinting.net/ There is a misunderstanding on the purpose of a CMS, it's supposed to allow the designer to focus on design and not the back end, hence make a better site faster. It's not a substitute to great design and creativity. On the website in question, the biggest issue I have is the combination of fonts.... the choice of fonts is rather poor, cursive fonts should be used rather carefully in academic/corporate websites. Best to stick to the 'boring' but less risky non-cursive fonts. On Mon, Jan 10, 2011 at 11:38 AM, Ndungi Kyalo <ndungi@gmail.com> wrote:

The link under e-learning is not working. Here is what i hope we can see soon from our university websites; Students to be able to carry out their day to day activities online..i.e. Apply to be a student, View application results, Pay online, Attend classes>>e-learning, in short, an interactive site to conduct your business as if you were in the campus. Like their counterparts in developed countries, if our universities could lead from the front, then perhaps they can drive change and help improve lives.
