<OT>Survey on engine oil vs fuel consumption

Hey members, I have a theory that engine oil (brand and viscosity) affects the sort of fuel consumption one gets, therefore, to get some numbers behind this theory, I have created a simple, 5 question survey. http://goo.gl/forms/GYCuXy2VPt I hereby kindly request you all to take a minute or two to answer those questions. Results are and will be freely accessible. Thanks!

Please do share the results for those of us who have no data to input into the survey. On Thursday, 18 February 2016, Peter Karunyu via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

I am not a data analyst, but it seems that my hypothesis is somewhat right. I graphed the engine oil viscosity against fuel usage, and got the nice chart attached. Summary: More people use Shell Helix 15W40 than 5W40, BUT, those who are using 5W40 are consistently getting better fuel economy. I want to disagree.
From that form, a good number of respondents don't know what engine oil they use. They just used "Shell Helix 15W40", what you had provided. That is called biased data collection.
It's like asking, who will be your presidential candidate in 2017. Example "Uhuru Kenyatta". A good number of respondents don't know any other candidate than which you have provided. That is my hypothesis. On 19/02/2016, Peter Karunyu via skunkworks <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

How can I revise it further to make it more accurate? I have removed all hints On Fri, Feb 19, 2016 at 3:19 PM, Peter Karunyu <pkarunyu@gmail.com> wrote:

I don't really now. But probably you should list more engine oils. During service, some of "us" leave the car with the mechanic and go for nyamchom and the brown bottle. I'm so clueless I've never known engine oil has viscosity. Maybe I'm not the proper definition of a petrolhead. I only know the oil goes for like 4500 to 5000 km, non synthetic. Sometime the oil jerican is yellow, sometimes it's grey. lol But don't take my word for it. More skunks may be on-top of their game.
