Well, guys are allowed to raise their issues. But it is quite clear that the guy does not understand what he is talking about. He talks of open source, donations and selling of software and tackles all those as different issues. The guy does not understand that one can make money from Open Source, and that there are many companies doing that successful such as Red Hat. Again, it is not clear why he is against Ushahidi receiving donations. After all, isn't the ends getting a revenue stream, the mean either been through donations or sale. It is quite clear that Kimotho's problem is elsewhere

One person's hate and stupid thinking cant be given such attention... we need to learn to use our time for better things than paying attention to haters. If Erik and team are deceiving, does that mean the whole world is wrong on giving Ushahidi the attention its gained? Again, I do not remember Erik or his crew trying to justify anything to anyone or in this case, trying to preach about how good they are... they have simply offered a solution that is endorsed worldwide. Its a model that has worked in Kenya,, I would very gladly emulate or copy them !!! Mozilla and other open source also depend on donations - and for the obvious fact that it costs money to populate and create ideas for your portals/sware to remain relevant - so no surprises there. </end>
The first wave of attacks is always pseudo-friendly, pleading almost - "truth be told" etc The arguments are always so lacking in intelligent analysis that you are tempted to jump in and respond because you know you can cut them down. But then that is what they want, the response! It is usually self defeating trying to respond to attacks on ones character from anonymous self serving intellectual muppets. However, having said that let me make the following observation and perhaps in the process inadvertently give the muppets some validation (although I suspect not that type they want). These attacks come with the territory and are usual a good indication that you are make serious waves in the online community. The older ones here will remember rcbowen.com and his online community - you will remember the crazies that used to hang out there and spend all day attacking Bowen and any other contributor who they saw rising in influence in that community. Remember the guy who actually started stalking Oloo O??!! The older ones will remember the original KenyaOnline email list hosted by stcloudstate and the crazies that would pop up there to attack anyone and occasionally everyone - and these were proper wazees even sitting MPs! KOL is now on Yahoo Groups I wonder what is going on there. The not so old ones will remember KenyaNiYetu and how Kenyans would rally around that website and of course these online goons followed! Then of course mashada.com - Kobia would get attacks unleashed on him daily and constantly. I remember one clown who registered at least 5 handles and would then proceed to start a thread attacking people where he would have conversations with himself daily. Write as one user, log out, log in as someone else, write as another, log out, log in as someone else. Once he slipped up irritated the wrong people who traced him - rather easily it must be said - to his workplace in the states and had a word with his supervisor about violation of the company's internet policy. But still copy cats would spring up all over the place - if there is one Kenyan tech biography I would buy it is Kobia's I am sure the man has enough stories to keep me occupied for hours on end. The bloggers here may also remember how KBW would come under sustained attack. So this attack on Erik and "his gang" is just the latest in a long unfortunate tradition of malice by some sectors of the Kenyan online community - and although is irritating, at least we're not in the Middle East where some online attacks have actually led to people having to move out of their home countries into exile abroad! Since jjkamotho has figured out how he is being conned by Erik and his gang, let us see what he will produce (apart from attacks) now that he is empowered with the knowledge that he can do it better.
