Snort is not perfect on it own. Also try install and configure psad and fwsnort in the same machine and make them work together. What is the issue here? I have done it on linux;

# tar xvzf package.tar.gz (or tar xvjf package.tar.bz2) # cd package # ./configure # make # make install

you might need the following as well.

- MySQL 5.0.77 - Libnet 1.0.2a - Libpcap 1.0.0 - BASE 1.4.2 - Apache 2.2.11

after which you configure the snort policies.
