In-light of the security incidences that have occurred lately, perhaps we can help. What can a bunch of geeks and nerds do? 1. For our very own special police units - we can assist co-create SWAT vans - Idea - http://localmotors.com/ideas/1699/ How they look like - http://www.ldvusa.com/vehicles/emergency-response/swat-trucks/28-glendora-po... this will ensure the GSU Teams get to the point required on time and have world class mobile command centres(the equipment inside will ofcourse be installed without us there). Everyone here can get involved - read more http://localmotors.com 2. For the poachers, affordable tactical helicopters Idea - http://localmotors.com/ideas/1700/ Robinson R22 or the Schweizer 300C might go crashing into the Elephants instead of protecting them but I'm sure we have some great minds that can come up with stable designs. So why not just buy them from the dealers? Because it will be much easier to convince law makers buy them if the innovators involved in production were Kenyans. Can you see your kids watch in amazement as a SWAT-Van passes by for some mission.. and you tell them "We designed them back in the days, that one there is the mobile command ", No?? ok. Back to reality!!

The problem is not that they don't have vans, APs have some armoured pick ups. Quick response to terror attacks is simply not a deliverable. They'll turn up 2 hours later to "secure the area".

Its a deliverable for "Special" teams trained in quick response. See by the number section (explains why they would need "special" vans) - http://www.ocregister.com/articles/team-514759-tustin-swat.html Have them in strategic locations and you can beat the maximum time it takes to respond, and have 12 officers arrive at one go.
