Hi, i was using zypper to install mysql when i saw the package mariadb being installed instead of mysql. Googling about mariadb i saw it's a replacement of mysql because of the free and open source licensing. Anyone know if the EVIL oracle has cancelled mysql as open source already??? Does Mariadb interact with phpmyadmin? Am sorry...but am too "inactive" at this hour to google myself. cheers!!

I recall someone saying that MariaDB should be a drop in replacement for MySQL. Try use it and see if there are any issues. And if you continue using it, post feedback on this list [?] On Tue, Apr 10, 2012 at 4:39 PM, Brian Rioba <rriobs@gmail.com> wrote:

Btw, MariaDB 5.3 is supposed to use XtraDB in place of InnoDB which I understand is supposed to be faster. On Tue, Apr 10, 2012 at 5:11 PM, Brian Rioba <rriobs@gmail.com> wrote:
