-------- Original Message -------- Subject: [afnog] AfNOG 2011 Advanced Routing Workshop Date: Sun, 20 Feb 2011 14:31:31 +1000 From: Philip Smith <pfs@cisco.com> Organization: Cisco Systems To: AfNOG List <afnog@afnog.org> Hi everyone, In case you have not been reading the AfNOG 2011 announcements from Nancy, I'd like to let you know about one *new* workshop being offered at AfNOG 2011 this year. For many years folks have been asking for more detailed BGP training than was possible to fit into the Scalable Infrastructure workshop. Well, your requests have been answered, and Mark Tinka and I will be leading the Advanced Routing workshop in Dar es Salaam. We'll be teaching ISIS and BGP. Including iBGP, eBGP, and especially how to implement BGP policies for Multihoming. The workshop will include IPv4 and IPv6 Routing as well. (I've attached the workshop synopsis.) If you are interested, please sign up for the workshop. The sooner you do the better, so that AfNOG Secretariat can plan properly for the event. Applications: http://www.afnog.org/application.html Thanks!! philip -- Advanced Routing The workshop is a mix of lectures and hands-on training in a well-equipped classroom over a five-day period to teach skills required for the configuration and operation of large scale Networks that make up the Internet. Who should attend: Technical staff who are now building or operating a wide area service provider network or Internet Exchange point, with international and/or multi provider connectivity. Participants are required to bring laptops. Pre-requisites: Successful completion of a previous AfNOG Scalable Infrastructure Workshop or similar training. Alternatively, participants must demonstrate acceptable knowledge of or their experience with a router configuration language. Experience of interior routing protocols such as OSPF or ISIS is also necessary, and participants must have used BGP. Some user level Unix experience would be advantageous. Workshop Contents: * Introduction to the ISIS Routing protocol * Introduction to IPv6 * BGP refresher, including attributes, policies, communities and best practices. * BGP scaling techniques, including Route Reflectors and peer-groups * Techniques and strategies for multihoming using BGP. * Introduction to peering and Internet Exchange Points. * Best practices for Internet operations. -- _______________________________________________ afnog mailing list http://afnog.org/mailman/listinfo/afnog
