Hey guys, The Chinese contractors we have here are pretty good...But the ones building China are on a class of there own...They really are good in what they do..I spent some time there and saw some futuristic designs put up in weeks what would take months... Bernard

If you do it with concrete that is too fast. It will surely fall. However, If you do it with steel (steel beams, steel everything), then it doesnt matter how long you take to put them together, its just the same thing. prefabricated construction makes sense in a lot of ways, consider the following: mortar constitutes a lot of water in weight, sometimes more than 50 percent. which means if you are lifting 20 tonnes to the 8th floor, you are hauling 10 tonnes of water which will eventually evaporate. The structure is generally stronger. (the weakest point in a concrete structure is where the mortar and masonry meets. This is eliminated when all you have are beams, struts and ties. The modular nature means each individual segment has room to expand and contract better than traditional construction which at times choose to contract at the wrong places. Most of the labourious work that would be done dangling precariously is done at ground zero. @Joram, I beg to differ... if you get the structure right from the word go..ie the slab, beams and columns plus wind resistance then you are covered. Remember we use steel to reinforce concrete..... you can still hack the same with steel columns...IMHO. But when all's said and done.
