Integrating Mombasa and Nairobi Communities

Folks, So I have had this idea in mind to create a cross-pollination between the Nairobi and Mombasa Technology Communities. It is constructive in so many ways, as it allows techies to define a "regional" more than local agenda. I run 2 mailing lists, which are at the moment hyper Mombasa but I am willing to get people to join in. However, I think its also best to get ideas from skunks on this, because it may be equally beneficial for them to also join skunkworks Nairobi forums. Or whatever other ideas we have in mind. The 2 mailing lists are: 1. M-Power Community mailing list: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/mpower-comunity 2. SwahiliBox Community Mailing List: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/swahilibox-community For those of you not in the know SwahiliBox <http://swahilibox.co.ke/> is the upcoming technology hub in Mombasa that will be the equal of the iHub. It was recently also featured on CIO East Africa <http://cio.co.ke/blog/swahilibox-the-next-major-technology-hub-in-africa>. -- *Ahmed Maawy* Executive Director - M-Power (CBO) Shaper - Global Shapers Ambassador - Open Knowledge Director - Startup Grind Mombasa Software Developer - Volo Broadband (KE) +254 714 960 627 Skype: ultimateprogramer m-power.or.ke www.globalshapers.org <http://globalshapers.org/> www.okfn.org <http://okfn.org/> startupgrind.com www.volobroadband.com

Thank you Ahmed. ---- Kind Regards, Alex Nyalita On Mon, Dec 1, 2014 at 10:35 AM, Ahmed Mohamed Maawy via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Ahmed, I think the essence of the mailing list is to integrate the community. There is need to have separate communities since they address local issues that might not elicit interest from other counties however people can be encouraged to be on various mailing lists and cross post when there is need to. Ahmed this can be a great Idea am one guy interested in the two counties and I believe your idea spirals around diversity, an aspect that is very significant. Once someone wanted to make this threads live on a website like forum models but the then volunteer faded to I do not know where after a few 'witty' challengers and commentators sprung, that Idea would have opened skunk to public but it did not even reach the 'problem identification cycle' (SDLC). In my opinion, your idea is noble. kindly add me to the mombasa list or let me know how to subscribe On Wed, Dec 3, 2014 at 11:21 AM, Barrack Otieno via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:
