Mbugua the point is our mobile phone calling costs are still way too high !!! How they fight it out price/service quality etc is what will make every individual make his/her choice. Thats the point right there !! On Fri, Aug 20, 2010 at 6:12 AM, Mbugua Njihia <mbugua@symbiotic.co.ke> wrote:

Hey Alvan, I am not discounting that but am wearing two hats at the same time :-) Say for example they all gave free calls but poor service, would that be better? -----Original Message----- From: Alvin Jason Ochieng [mailto:ajochola@gmail.com] Mbugua the point is our mobile phone calling costs are still way too high !!!How they fight it out price/service quality etc is what will make every individual make his/her choice.Thats the point right there !!

@Mbugua, you seem to miss one point that even business giants like Mobicom know how to differentiate their business investments. Right now, Zain is the hottest thing to be and top businessmen like Mobicom are going to be asking themselves whether they still want to hold on to "loosers" they just moved to. Orange has much more to loose if it sticks to its currrent rates. The spiralling effect is already in progress. What will finally nail it for Safaricom is if Zain/Orange launches 3g with fixed and affordable rates. I've been using the test service on Orange 3g and its been doing very well. The lesson that Safcom need to learn here is simple. Bottomline = Rates must go down. ;-) Rgds.

Aki - right on !!!! Mbugua I do agree that quality is also a factor but price is key !!! After all if Zain does not produce quality who will lose out but them ? I will just move again !!!! Who cares about the Investors ?? I actually don't give a hoot about them....MJ has to give one though ... PRICE/QUALITY !! See my point? @Mbugua, a final word on this thread. I'd be very surprised that most of Safcom distributors, outlets, dealers, vendors and others are not already cashing in on the Zain storm? Or are they waiting for Safcom to drop rates, I hardly think so. Safcom needs to realize that they are going to be caught up in a crises in the near future because just like them as a teclo who want to profit from kenyans, kenyans aslo want to benefit from cheaper rates. And those earning their incomes from safcom air-time, sim card sales will also be thinking hard. Safcom needs to heed or face a negative trend from its chain of revenues. This is day 3 of the airtime rates coup. We are already into the affordability era. :-) Me thots and catchup later.
