Can weblogic be clustered at the application level only without doing an OS cluster or must you cluster the underlying OS to achieve this? Regards

Hi Ken, Not only can you cluster Oracle Weblogic on Linux but also any other major platform(I can confirm Linux, Windows and Solaris)! You need to install the additional domains on different ports e.g 7001,7002,7003 then install an additional component called Weblogic Proxy. There are many instructions online on how to go about it but I can assist you on one of these days when I'm not too held-up feeding and caring for my production clusters! :) On 11 Jan 2014 13:07, "Ken Yanski" <skunkazi@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi Ken, Albeit a little late the answer to your question is: yes, Oracle WebLogic Server can be clustered without doing an OS cluster. You can create WebLogic Managed Servers on different machines and cluster them horizontally and use a proxy server for load balancing or alternatively you could create multiple WebLogic Managed Servers on the same machine having different ports and cluster them vertically and use an Apache Web Server to do your load balancing or even a hardware load balancer if you like. There should be lots of docs online to help with this. Happy clustering, Loki On Sat, Jan 11, 2014 at 11:07 AM, Ken Yanski <skunkazi@gmail.com> wrote:
