Installing WinXP on New Machine

Hi All, Am trying to install Windows XP on a recently purchased HP 3010 computer. Before copying files can commence, i get a blue screen with the error that there are no hard drives installed. All attempts to get into BIOS so as to disable the native SATA have been fruitless. Any pointers as to what I can do? Regards, Mwariri Mwangi

Have you added any memory? On Wed, Apr 21, 2010 at 12:53 PM, Mwariri Mwangi <jmwariri@gmail.com> wrote:

Try installing some Linux! -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "If you have nothing good to say about someone, just shut up!." -- Lucky Dube

Its possible to download the sata drivers. I think they are AHCI drivers then using nlite you add them to a copy of the OS you are installing then make a cd of the image created by nlite. It worked for me. On Wed, Apr 21, 2010 at 6:21 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:

Is this machine any of those HP dv series? coz i read that they perennially have these kinda problems and Mwariri, these guys are right. XP SP3 is the only hassle free way to go when SATA issues like these arise. You wont even know you had a problem to begin with. So, have you sorted it yet?
