Hey guyz anybody knows someone who's looking for a guy to do automation? I'm the guy. I deal with 8051 and AVR microcontrolers (They're very thorough). It can be anything from stepper motor control, IR remote control interfacing, Basic Security system, customizing your phone to control stuff, temperature sensors, Led or LCD display equipments and any thing you think that needs automation.

Hey Omondi, i like the sound of "*IR remote control interfacing*", just wanted to confirm what it really means: so i have 4 small wireless cameras, I want to stick them to the 4 corners of a car and get that feed onto a display on the dashboard, then be able to transmit that feed into another device (i.e. a phone) via wireless... [very long story here]... so that finally I can reverse my car while standing outside but still be able to see around the car as if I was inside it... Is that the kind of stuff you do?

@Karunyu,I'd be suprised if that's what Omondi does. Nice thinkin though, however me thinks thats overstretching technology. Wat happens after reversing? Probably you switch to front cameras n drive the car off while standing outside! On 10/19/09, Peter Karunyu <pkarunyu@gmail.com> wrote:

Hey hey, That's too ambitious. What you're saying is video streaming and that can be done by some sort of Wireless Ip cameras. The control part is a bit too complicated coz it involves automating the whole car so that it drives itself while being controlled remotely or at a distance. What I mean with IR is like using your remote control to switch off lights, open garage doors and basically data transfer.

Dougi.. interesting topic. :-) So at what stage exactly would you load the instructions (my favourite part)? I'm assuming you'll be c programming. On 10/19/09, Omondi douglas <ombokdouglas@gmail.com> wrote:

@Jared, LOL! Its been a dream since I saw that James Bond movie where he was driving this BMW with a nokia phone, recently re-ignited when I saw this top gear episode where richard and james and some kid were racing real life remote controlled cars. They were using these huge remotes, kinda like the ones used for model planes. Then there was this other movie, i forget the name, where this mercedes had cameras on the rear bumpers with the feed displayed on the dashboard. And yet in another top gear episode, jeremy was drooling over this mercedes which had infra red cameras on the headlights which made visibility at night much much better. And dont you think it would be "interesting" to have cars with real time radar, collision detection, ejector seats, auto pilot... And anyway, if the USAF can do it with the drones, wouldn't a car be a piece of cake?

Peter, Check out http://bit.ly/B2qm5. DARPA has a challenge every year for driverless cars that I'm sure falls right in the category of what it is that interests you. http://egmgem.com http://gitonga.imagekind.com On Wed, Oct 21, 2009 at 1:58 PM, Peter Karunyu <pkarunyu@gmail.com> wrote:

What a way to end my day, and here I was thinking I am a ninjitsu coder! *Technology 2007 Urban Challenge teams employed a variety of different software and hardware combinations for interpreting sensor data, planning, and execution. Some examples: * Cornell's code was written in C++ and C# and ran on 17 dual core servers. Planning involved Bayesian mathematics. * Insight Racing used Mac Minis running Linux because they could run on DC power at relatively low wattage and produce less heat. * Team Case was using Mac Minis running Windows. * Team LUX was running an embedded version of Windows XP. * Team Jefferson's software ran on Perrone Robotics' MAX robotics platform running atop Sun Microsystems' Java RTS on Solaris, Java SE on Linux, Java ME running on micro-controllers and SunSpots. * Team Ben Franklin's code was written in MATLAB. * Sting Racing's software was written in Java running on Linux. * VictorTango's software was written in a mixture of C++ and LabVIEW, and was split between Windows and Linux servers. * Team Gator Nation's architecture consisted of C, C++, and C# running on a variety of windows and fedora systems communication with the JAUS protocol. * MIT's software was written in C, running on a Linux cluster with 40 cores. * Austin Robot Technology's software was written and developed by undergraduates from a UT-Austin course. The code was in C++, using the Player Project as an infrastructure. * The winning entry, Tartan Racing [10] employed a hierarchical control system, with layered mission planning, motion planning, behavior generation, perception, world modelling, and mechatronics.[11]* http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DARPA_Grand_Challenge

These guys, http://www.mobileye.com/, seem to have made substantial progress; *Mobileye is a pioneer in the development of vision-based Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), providing data for applications such as Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Headway Monitoring, Pedestrian Detection, High Beam Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Adaptive Cruise Control and more.*

Apologies listers for reviving this long dead thread, but recent developments have partially actualized this. You can literally drive the Sui Sedan using a remote control, while standing outside, more details here: http://www.gizmag.com/byd-su-rui-remote-control-car/23857/. And the Google driverless car<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_driverless_car>is, well, successful enough to be old news as of now. @Jared Koyier, hehehe, lets see what happens another 3 years from now :-) On Mon, Oct 19, 2009 at 6:39 PM, Jared Koyier <jaredkoyier@gmail.com> wrote:
