For those of you who own Android phones, do you see a shortened battery life on the Android phones as compared to the Symbian or Winblows-based phones? We are testing the Garmin M10 (windows Mobile Pro 6.5.3) and Garmin A10 (Android v2.1 Eclair)<http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3295&idPhone2=3097> . For some reason, same user behavior, the Android battery seems to run down so fast. Or is it just the (mis)behaviour of the user?:-) BTW: Several M10s are available, if someone is interested in buying:-) -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

Hi Alvin, Which Android phone are you using? I'd really like to know the type of battery it comes with. In my case, both phones come with Li-Ion 1500mAh -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

I share these sentiments. I've got a Samsung Galaxy 5 (five) with a battery - Li-Ion 1200 mAh It only lasts about 12 hrs of heavy usage... Frustrating!!! On Tue, Nov 23, 2010 at 13:41, Alvin Jason Ochieng <ajochola@gmail.com>wrote:

I get at least 24 hours and sometimes 36 hours on every battery charge. Am running Android 2.1 Eclair (mod-ed) on a Huawei. To be honest, I had first thought that for a relatively low-priced made-in-China device, I would get much less battery life. But I guess was wrong on that one. IMO, I think any phone battery wouldnt even last 12hrs with "heavy" usage. There should be a problem though if it does not last long (say 12hrs) with "light" usage. Now a typical un-modded android OS runs a number of background services like GChat, GMail, Location/GPS (a real battery sucker) all over HSPDA. You might want to manage these. I have never owned a Winmobile so I cant list the background services running on the phone and so I cant really draw an accurate comparison of both OSes on battery life. We did tweak these features yesterday but one and for sure, we've almost got about 36hrs as you mention. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

Android or not, one way to really extend battery life is to set your smartphone to connect on 2G only...but that's if you can live without having to use 3G all the time. It makes a real difference on my N97
