I have just realized that www.emskenya.co.ke is not any more available. Actually, it was deregistered, from what I see on KENiC website. Yet, you go to the Postal Corporation (is it really a Corporation??) website and there is reference to EMS Kenya, linked to the website. The PCK website is what I'd call a dead website, but I am not a webdev so maybe there is another better word for it. This got me thinking. What is it that stops PCK from having a functional website like the USPS one? Does PCK run without an IT Department to handle such things or is it the lack of competent webdevs to replicate what is on www.usps.com? I doubt if it's the later. Interestingly though, if you take a peek at http://www.posta.co.ke/home.asp, you get this feeling that someone tried this, but failed. Reasons? I don't know. The host hilarious one though is when you try and find contacts: http://www.posta.co.ke/page.asp?pageid=20 Someone give me an alternative to puking, because I don't easily puke unless it's malarial. Do I have a right to demand that PCK have a functional website?? -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 "I can't hear you -- I'm using the scrambler."

PCK, being a government owned institution, is not incentivised to have a working website. At the end of the day, whether it works or not, PCK employees will be handsomely rewarded with salaries and bonuses. Their owner, the people of Kenya, will not take them to task over such failings. If they were to make more money also, it wouldn't impact any one's bottom line - so why care? On 16 July 2014 14:51, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com> wrote:

I'll give you 5 years and nothing will change at PCK. Those ERP & EPMs are just pipes for siphoning funds if you ask me. If they cannot have a functional website all these years, how will ERP/EPM change that? On 16 July 2014 16:43, Isaac Kiplagat <isaac.kiplagat@gmail.com> wrote:

There's a reason why private couriers are a booming business. In fact, such are being hindered by a law that prohibits private couriers from charging less than what Posta charges for small mail. Can you believe that - we have to create laws to protect incompetency and the high cost of Posta's business.

Yep +1 to Washington. In April last year they spent 100 million KES on a state of the art remittance and switching platform... ilienda? na inafanya? :) On 16 July 2014 17:06, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com> wrote:

The problem is that all this 'website', 'ERP', 'EPM' are just buzzwords to the higher-ups who haven't the faintest clue what they are. The result? A few clever (unscrupulous?) characters make money off their ignorance by developing half-baked solutions for the purposes of facilitating big launches where the people at the top floor of the posta building can invite dignitaries who also have no clue what they are looking at and read speeches written for them about how this and that will revolutionize blah blah blah. The website, for one, should be one of the most important parts of their operations, enabling people to track their mail, money, etc. On Wednesday, July 16, 2014 9:15 PM, Jangita Nyagudi <jangita.nyagudi@gmail.com> wrote: Yep +1 to Washington.
