I'm using the low-cost, entry level, *3-in-one HP Desk-jet 1050* for precisely the same requirement. I bought it for less than Kes 6,000/=. I've had it for about 1.5 years and only recently changed the black ink toner cartridge for the first time (just to give you an indication of how 'occasional' my printing is). Tony.

Just enquired, and found out Epson's entry model is recommended if you have some moderate usage, The Epson L210 goes for KSh. 18,000 and has print, copy, scan, and can do 4,000 pages for each refill. Inks should be less than KSh. 2,000 Wash, what model is your neighbour's printer and where did they buy it from, if still under warranty, it can be fixed at no cost, provided they used Epson ink to refill - non-Epson inks do clog the tanks and are not covered by the warranty On Mon Jan 26 2015 at 14:10:10 Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com> wrote:

Wash, what model is your neighbour's printer and where did they buy it from, if still under warranty, it can be fixed at no cost, provided they used Epson ink to refill - non-Epson inks do clog the tanks and are not covered by the warranty

I think I saw a printer which I really liked HP LaserJet Pro MFP-M176N <http://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/printers/product-detail.html?oid=5303442> . Maybe it's already succeeded by another model number but that's what I'd go for. If it has a model with WiFi, even better.

PK, Hp 8600 - Cost is Kshs. 37,000 + VAT. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/printers/product-detail.html?oid=4323650&j... That is what I use at home. And it can handle a bit of pressure in terms of work, speed of print as well as it is a 4 in 1 printer. Look for me.
