      @ Michelle i love your passion for techie...we seem to be left out with developers taking the centre stage with the likes of m-labs n ihubs. 
Developers are passionate about what they do thus the buzz in their line. These guys are already a step ahead. Ever wondered why some phones take a while (sometimes even a year!) 4 em to reach the african market long after their launch? I see that changing soon....developers working on  apps that can run on android, symbian, iOS, etc and little attention being paid on the windows phone OS...... i see that changing soon. World focus is changing to the African untapped market.
4 techies tis about using technology. U gotta love it, to embrace it.  You are an IT techie? in your organization, which on which maturity level are you? Maturity levels of local ICT departments of most companies are at level 1 (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/architectsrule/archive/2008/06/12/gartner-it-infrast...), with most processes being manual and repetitive. Technology is hardly embraced. We are not yet fully exposed, industrial and operational-wise, to international standards.

i challenge you to challenge yourself. take yourself and your company or the company you work for to the next maturity level. We need to start positioning ourselves for Konza. Embrace technology. Enhance our skillsets. Get out of our comfort zone. Think outside the box. Think outside our boundaries. Think global. Become an MVP.....Sharpen your skillsets cz one thing's 4 sure; Konza will def need techies.

That said, it is my opinion that our mainstream media is largely obsessed with politics, with a sprinkling of business and tech news here and there. Which means, if your primary source of information is the said mainstream media, your probability of catching the "innovations" will be limited.

So how do you get clued in? Personally, I read cio.co.ke everyday, followed by a quick check of ihub events section, then an even quicker followup on the sponsors of those events/competitions. Over time, this had led me to what I would consider interesting ventures being done by Kenyans.

But thats just me, maybe I am still languishing in cluelessnessland :-)
