However, Outlook still crashes when I either attempt to mount the file, or import data from it (import also mounts the file). Stellar Phoenix Outlook PST Repair OTOH is able to extract all the data from this file into another useable PST file. It wants to behave as it it's a Mail Server? :) I can imagine that those are individual mail files - and for it to read and display them in their hundreds will have a great impact on it's response speed. Ok3ch, I thought about it already in a different context - server context. I was imagining a MuA, storing mail, each mail per file, having, say, 2000 emails. Compare that to a MuA, using mbox, with 2000 emails. The later will definately be faster under same test environment, I swear. BTW, I need to test this Incredible Mail to see how the e-mails are stored. It'll be my first time seeing a MuA do that. The other app I have seen do that is MDaemon, but that is a server, not a reader. Breathing iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin... There are not many MUA's known to store emails in Maildir format. The ones i know that are good and will support other functionality that i need like filters, pgp and multiple accounts are as follows; - Kmail (KDE) - Evolution (no idea if there's a windows version). Opera Mail is listed as supporting Maildir format but not used it or heard any +ve or -ve reviews to say anything about it. So any day i would go for an MUA with Maildir - but after the migration woes from Evolution to Thunderbird a couple of years back. I dont want to go back to a less supported format. But i would gladly and i mean gladly go back to Evolution in an instance. HTH. Michuki.

Mich, Does Thunderbird store in Maildir format? There is really no good reason why the user whose taken me this far is using Outlook. It should be easy to migrate the user to another MuA, given that even the backend they access is Dovecot. Nope unfortunately MBOX. However, since i have a habit of filtering emails into seperate folders. Thunderbird creates an MBOX for each folder and that sort of scales for now.

Am quite sure that most MTA's, POP3 and IMAP servers will support Maildir - unless its still in the dark ages and there are still afew anyways. Dovecot is a great choice. Try evolution for windows. Regards, Michuki.

Nope unfortunately MBOX. However, since i have a habit of filtering emails into seperate folders. Thunderbird creates an MBOX for each folder and that sort of scales for now.
There is really no good reason why the user whose taken me this far is using Outlook. It should be easy to migrate the user to another MuA, given that even the backend they access is Dovecot. They can use Windows (no suitable replacement known - not to them, I swear).
Am quite sure that most MTA's, POP3 and IMAP servers will support Maildir - unless its still in the dark ages and there are still afew anyways. Dovecot is a great choice.
Am always a sucker for courier imap..
Try evolution for windows.
Mutt works beautifully too.. My current setup is Incoming mail: IMAP(StartTLS)->fetchmail->procmail->FS/Maildir dirs Outgoing mail: Mutt -> Postfix -> World With vim as my editor and vim bindings... It's a pretty world!

Until today. Incedible Mail and Incredimail meant the same thing to me. I always 'knew' that Incredimail was some skin applied on Outlook Express:-) Now that I have checked for info, it would appear that Incredible Mail is some commercial product, but I can't find an official site for it. Could you please point me to their website? I need to test run. On Thu, Jul 14, 2011 at 13:53, The sherminator <steve.kim41@gmail.com>wrote:

Stellar Phoenix Outlook PST Repair OTOH is able to extract all the data from this file into another useable PST file.
Thanks for the rant. Now I know what to do.
