Hey, For those using the Pico Station, does it support Wireless N standard? If yes, at what speed? 150Mbps, 300Mbps?? I simply cannot find this information, even from Ubiquitu website. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ I can't hear you -- I'm using the scrambler. they do not: check the datasheet: http://www.ubnt.com/downloads/pico2_datasheet.pdf http://www.ubnt.com/downloads/pico2hp_ds.pdf http://www.ubnt.com/downloads/pico5_ds.pdf only supports b (11mb) and g (54mb) On Mon, Aug 8, 2011 at 9:53 AM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:

I realized that too. So it would appear only Power AP N is the only option, if not Airouter. On Mon, Aug 8, 2011 at 10:56, [ Brainiac ] <arebacollins@gmail.com> wrote:

To clarify there are two picos. Pico2 and PicoM2. Pico2- b/g - max rate is 54 mbps PicoM2 - b/g/n - max rate 150 mbps since its not MIMO If it was MIMO data rate would be 300mbps. Remember the data rate is highest achievable air data rate for an ideal situation and its the aggregate for both TX and RX meaning its 75 mbps one way. In actual use other factors will affect the achievable speeds. -- Regards, Job Njogu Muriuki, Phone: (+254) - 772333075 | 736333075 Skype: heviejob | Yahoo: heviejob Address: 42665 00100 Nrb

@Job, Thanks for this. So, what you are saying is that if I go for PicoStation M2-HP, I will do >54Mbps, right? If I may also ask: How do I know if a WiFi device has MIMO? Do they write that in the datasheet?? On Mon, Aug 8, 2011 at 18:00, Job Muriuki <muriukin@gmail.com> wrote:

Normally the vendor should specify if its MIMO but no b/g WIFI device is MIMO. For WIFI N some are MIMO mostly the ones with more than one antennas. They use one to send and the other to receive making it MIMO. -- Regards, Job Njogu Muriuki, Phone: (+254) - 772333075 | 736333075 Skype: heviejob | Yahoo: heviejob Address: 42665 00100 Nrb

@wash SISO, SIMO, MISO and MIMO are all terms that reffer to single, multiple, output and input..... in other words SISO is the specialist and MIMO is the jack of all trades :-) On Mon, Aug 8, 2011 at 7:03 PM, Job Muriuki <muriukin@gmail.com> wrote:

So the ones that have 3 antennas also use some clever MIMO to do 150 tx/rx across them? Now that takes me to this Linksys<http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/datasheet/1224665892201/E4200.pdf>which they say does 450mbps at 5GHz. Yeah that's what it means. Each of the individual antennas is supposed to be connected to independent radios inside the AP to achieve those speeds. -- Regards, Job Njogu Muriuki, Phone: (+254) - 772333075 | 736333075 Skype: heviejob | Yahoo: heviejob Address: 42665 00100 Nrb

Their ethernet is still 100mbps (last i checked) - why run "N" if you cant maximize on that.
That is a very sensible question. Thanks. So if I need "N", it makes sense to go with those which have gigabit Ethernet ports. The only one I know "Power AP N".

I use them often so am pretty sure, plus the ubiquiti forum has lots of information on the same if you have time to go through it. -- Regards, Job Njogu Muriuki, Phone: (+254) - 772333075 | 736333075 Skype: heviejob | Yahoo: heviejob Address: 42665 00100 Nrb
