I would go for Bsc Computer science if i want to be an IT nerd only, but for those who are also business minded and want to also be relevant in the IT world, BBIT is for you. Personally I would opt for BBIT then later add a proffesional IT course in the field I'd prefer, that way you have an added advantage. My first degree was Bsc Maths and computer science and although we were versed more on statistics, I was able to stand on IT after campus and also work in statistics...i have the best of both worlds and the market today needs someone who can give a hand in other areas if need be and do a good job at it. you also have a larger employment field. however, as someone rightly stated, it really depends on the skills you gain and how you are able to cut a niche market for yourself....Jenga Karume made it after all. Wesley is spot on; most employers tend to favour core skills over papers. If you plan to work in the IT industry, chances are high that you will do a practical test during the interview and in such, only your skills will help you.
Passion will drive you to sharpen your skills, much much more than any lecturer can teach you.

It depends on your future plans: BBIT is more of Business but Bsc is more of nitty gritty of comps. BBIT might give u more job options coz of it's closeness with Business. If you're more inclined to tech stuff, do Bsc and latter add a business diploma if you want to broaden your horizons. If you're more inclined to BBIT then ...
At the end of the day, none of the above really matter. You can do Home Science and be a House-Band if you like. Follow your passion, work hard at it and make a living out of it. That's all that counts!

WHere are you located? Lets see what the technicians will say. I bought teh new Zain Modem and tried to use it last month and the network is the slowest you will get anywhere. Avoid Zain which is still on Edge and the Orange Internet everywhere running on GSM. The Orange EVDO 3G+ and Safaricom Broadband are good options.
Let me send an inquiry to Safaricom on this

Am an MCSE 2000 and Diploma in Computer Repair and Network.
What are my options btwn the 2 degree's?
@tonnie - what do you mean what are your options? Arent the two degrees your options? :) Big question is - do you want to gain deeper knowledge of computers or do you want to get into the business and management of IT? That should guide your decision. If your dream is to be a techie then go with CS else BBIT.

I think you should go for the BBIT. I think if you have MCSE and a Diploma in Computer Repair and Network(wow, which college teaches this course), then it will broaden your knowledge on the business aspect as thats what most employers will want.Where you can turn business requirements into techie stuff and implement. My 2cents. (BTW, thats what I have done in college and it works for me) Regards; On 12/01/2010 20:26, Billy wrote:
