Paul, this is a hybrid STB that runs Android, it has all the ports as my writer has indicated in the article, so you actually aren't limited to SIM card data, there is RJ45 slot and WiFi. Hi all

The SIM card is sealed inside the device. Perhaps with the Ethernet port you can use another provider. The damn thing is an android router with built in STB, and a media player. If you have a digital TV, you don't need it really esp if you already have a Wi-Fi router like my DIR-825 which uses a USB modem and has Gigabit WAN port to boot. Safaricom lies about free data bundles with the device. If you buy device outright at 10K, you get 3+3GB for 6months. If you buy on instalments you pay 5K device, 1K data bundle and then you pay 999 for 6 months which gives you the data bundle of 3+3GB. So you end up paying 12K in total. Where's that FREE data bundle?? I think it's the extra 1GB you get as compared to someone buying for phone or modem who gets 2+2GB valid for 30 days, or maybe the free YouTube for 3 months?? Let's just say it's a very modern and expensive FTA STB. That's all. On Fri, May 8, 2015, 16:41 John K. via skunkworks <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

That's all.

Martin,
Just to clarify: is this a set top box plus an Internet device? Or is it an Internet device through which one would stream local TV?
Thanks for all the updates. ^_^

Is Zuku and other digital TV get affected whenever it rains? DSTv does that and it's never funny. Especially if you are watching a movie. On 10:59AM, Sat, 9 May 2015 Henry Kamabi via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Hi Guys I don't think the Box is such a revolutionary product especially for on demand tv, nowadays we have smart TVs all over at 4 times the cost of the box. the issue will be network bandwidth/quality, most of you techies in this forum will agree with me that all those who watch on demand TV and online streaming use mostly Zuku or Orange (I stand to be corrected), I watch netflix and what I noted is, if the network quality drops, immediately they stop streaming on HD and give you some crappy video quality but netflix/hulu is not to blame that is how most online videos have been configured to allow you to access content even if you have poor network. I think the big question here is Kenya's internet ready for online tv? With Kind regards Barongo On Sat, May 9, 2015 at 3:56 PM, awatila--- via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

The box has spectacularly failed to connect to the internet. Have had to take mine back to safaricom care only to be told that problem is a network outage. Now I'm stuck with a really expensive Digital Box to watch free channels. -----Original Message----- From: "Kennedy Kairu Kariuki via skunkworks" <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> Sent: 08/05/2015 18:02 To: "Odhiambo Washington" <odhiambo@gmail.com>; "Skunkworks Mailing List" <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> Subject: Re: [Skunkworks] [SKUNKWORKS] Safaricom To Give Box Decoder UsersFree Internet For Six Months ++1 @Wash. That's all.
