Safaricom 3G Data Bundles - Skewed Decisions

Sometimes I wonder how the think tanks at Safaricom reason: What is the difference between a PrePay 3G Internet user and a PostPay one, that makes the PostPay one be given preferential treatment/consideration?? On The DN of today, Safaricom has an Ad on Pg 3 on which they have increased the 3G bundle amounts (disproportionately anyway), BUT ONLY FOR PostPay customers? Seems like those elitist tendencies. I have used Safaricom modem data bundles from the start on PrePay, hence my annoyance at Safaricom favoring PostPay (though I am a PostPay voice user). Safaricom has now decided the PostPay user should get 700MB, up from 300MB for KES 999. For now I'll stay with Orange. They give me 1GB for KES 850, not KES 999. However, I am still wondering what is the objective of Safaricom's decision. -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

The rationale is postpaid revenue is more predictable than prepaid On Mon, Nov 8, 2010 at 5:43 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:

See here => http://safaricom.co.ke/index.php?id=244 What is not clear to me still, is the charging model. How is it different from PrePay? Is it that a PostPay user will be charged KES 999 for the 700MB in 30 days, whether they deplete the bundle or not? What happens when they used up the whole bundle? They start being charged per MB or what? -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!

Its all about cash flow. Postpaid are more loyal and bring in more revenue. it is why they get a dedicated customer care crew, products are tailored for them etc. No point in complaining, vote with your wallet and modem. I have been a dedicated/loyal user too. I just need to understand the rationale. Let me vote with my wallet then:-) -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Damn!!
