There are journalists and journalists! Don't ask me to do the differential calculus there. There are journalists who get paid more than some top CEOs and there are journalists who scrap a living. You understand? Anyway, in the Trackshit case, I asked myself the same question: Were they to be offered 15million, would they still go on with the exposé? Two things stand out: One is that the evidence came to them and any attempts by them to "cover" the lid would have led to serious repercussions. Secondly, they could as well still be having their conscience intact. Corruption is mostly in govt/civil service. The one in the parastatals is still govt, sort of. And yes, there are Kenyans out there who would fight corruption to the last drop of their blood! -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, Nairobi,KE +254733744121/+254722743223 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "Clothes make the man. The pain of losing one's vehicle,, or the story of a friend/family losing a vehicle,, after about a year of working hard and saving and talking about 'getting a toyota' Then one goes through the task of importing and then is heavily taxed by KRA at the customs... And one finally gets a car after one year waiting at 1.5 the price tag in japan [or dubai ] - then a few months later, someone comes with a cheap gun and panga, steals your one year investment in a matter of minutes,,, a few hours later, the company you paid and trusted to protect you helps the goons drop out of border jurisdiction with your 'prize'. Now if one was a reporter and has heard of such stories, one would most definitely report... Besides, i believe more fame would come from the expose trifling the few millions..

For the first time in a while, KTN is doing something interesting. If we have such and we continue unraveling the evils that people commit in the name of serving Kenyans "interests" then we will ensure that we get quality and not rip -offs. @Teyie, just be glad that they pulled off the story - this revelation will surely have saved lives in some ways. and the money of all prospective customers...... besides, corruption is mainly a mainstay of politicians, mp's and "our leaders", not reporters (at least not all anyway) sometimes, a "cool million" isn't worth the alternative. its not always about the money, yu know? @motobaridi I know! Just thinking out loud. The MD who was offering the million should be very dumb, if he is in the business of "car Surveillance" how come he didn't notice he was being recorded? Video complete with voice? Just like me, the dude thinks Kenyans are so corrupt that a million will shut anyone up! but how will it end? Kudos to the two journalists for uncovering Track**t On 4/14/09, MotoBaridi <motobaridi@gmail.com> wrote:

@Ken, just thinking aloud, assuming the two took the 1.5m, each goes home with 750k, how much can u do with it? Going on to report the story, means a payrise maybe, better offers from well/better paying or even international broadcasters like CNN etc what would u go for? #2-they were doing their job, they hav to deliver to guarantee the salo at the end of the month but again, for some(most) kenyans 750k is way alot of money!
