Time for skunkworks and other online lists to really stand up and be counted.

Indulge me for a moment here friends. This list forms a big bulk of tech advisory in this market, this means many people in the list will be heard when decisions, like which ISP to choose are laid out in many companies across the country. I feel sad that that many issues raised here are not addressed as seriously by the multi nationals because they can get away with it. What if we made it impossible to get away with it? What if this group, and many similar groups played the watchdog role using purely empirical methods? For instance, engaging in an online analysis of which companies are offering value for money for users? Im thinkin a skunkworks list of shame / excellence for ISP'S published monthly, using pre determined criteria more or less like they rate phones, cars . . . Etc and using our in-group connections (media, business weekly, online lists and school bulletins . . . Etc ) try to have this reach as many as possible in the market. Wouldnt this at least make some companies re-think their bullying tactics? Or this is just utopia. . -- Its Possible! I think that would create another ruling class or group of oppressors who would easily be corrupted by the powers that be to rate a particular provider good or bad. .. . . . . . Skunkworks as it is is pretty critical of them all and seeing as we have the cream of the technocrats present on the forum , all ISPs and tech firms have a presence and are monitoring the list. . . .having a name and shame campaign would be a backwards step . . . . My humble opinion. . . On Tue, Aug 25, 2009 at 7:43 PM, Areba Collins<arebacollins@gmail.com> wrote:

Hence the pre defined criteria. For instance, ranking of Isp according to latency over a certain route over a certain period. How does one corrupt such data, especially when the methodology is pre defined and uniform. On 8/25/09, Mark Mwangi <mwangy@gmail.com> wrote:
