If you cant secure your MySQL you think those guys will handle oracle* (or whatever else) ? if they cant sort out joomla you can't really expect that same person to whip up a nice UI +DB on rails or whatever. I am with Wash on this one. a mere DB connection issue is an issue especially for a site like the IEBC. if this were election time i can see/imagine a politician claiming sabotage, that could lead to nasty incidents. it would put a whole process in jeopardy. Don't get it. 3,000 applications per hour is not a big deal. You don't need a high end server to manage that. Must be a problem with the website design. This site needs to be scaled up. 3k is nothing considering what they'll be serving before during and immediately after the elections. The days of just throwing a cms together and assuming you have a site are gone. Someone needs to plan the infrastructure, the content, its efficient delivery.... I am with Wash on this one. a mere DB connection issue is an issue especially for a site like the IEBC. if this were election time i can see/imagine a politician claiming sabotage, that could lead to nasty incidents. it would put a whole process in jeopardy.
We need to be clear. This is our money used to fund a very important public function. It goes beyond the technology and we have to be very vigilant.
