Hello list, Are there people who still use the Dialup services in Kenya? I mean those who plug in a telephone line (from TKL or it's successors) and does a dialup to some ISP? I am thinking that with the advent of 3G/WCDMA the dialup service was rendered obsolete. Wash, you better keep some for redudancy, you never know when the ISPs will all go down due to artifical or natural causes

And then I take one of my TKL lines off the PBX (or Fax) and use it do dialup, and share the connection? Heheeee.. Dennis, that would be taking me back to 1997 or thereabout, when we used such modems on Windows with some apps (I can't remember the names) to share the Internet connection. You remind me of those old phones. 1. You had to be at the designated spot to receive and Make the call. You had to dial in circles on the Keys. 2. Damn this digital phones, I can no longer just tap the spaces fast and replace the handset to make my favourite call....!!! Magical it was...(TKL has evolved).Remember these techies, who would tap the lines make calls in the name of kazi but they are busy calling your domestic personnel.... 3. Punching the box ikohoe pesa was another one when we needed pocket change for snacks... and yes the most special One was to call 999 i wonder if it still works... I mean, waiting for that magic handshake tone between modems ... does some people still wait for that tone and begin to smile, just because they believe "the settings" are good.
