County Government Websites Hosted abroad
Hi, As a kenyan do you think its okay that most County Government website are being hosted abroad by Amazon, Unified layer etc? There are many companies in Kenya who can manage a simple county government website or what is not right about hosting it here? nairobi.go.ke (IP: 205.251.232.38) kisumu.go.ke 174.136.57.140 mombasacounty.com nakuru.go.ke to name but a few. regards JP
Hey JP, Am of the opinion that internet made world a smaller village and when it comes to cloud services, there Services Providers who have matured their technology and service offering to the best. As much as would be concerned of local consumption, my thought would be analysing the SLA's , Support, Infrastructure and value for money, scalability etc etc Am one customer for AWS and didn't find any local service provider who matched the requirements and model of SaaS hosting. If you cant get one continue using PO Box will somebody comes up with one. STOP using FOREIGN SERVICES Secondly you also contribute local content from your phone, tablet PC ETC .. Why place it in domains hosted abroad in the name of facebook, instagram and twitter .. .. STOP USING FOREIGN DOMAINS ...
