My limited research on this matter had led me to the conclusion that the OBD standard is not strictly enforced in Japan as it is in Europe or US, therefore, vehicles made for the Japan domestic market (many of which end up here in .ke), may or may not support OBD2, its a 50-50 chance. Some manufacturers choose to implement a proprietary protocol, which is not necessarily compliant with OBD2.
