Interesting story: Microsoft goes after Huawei http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2011/nov/08/huawei-microsoft-android-pa... The Chinese telecoms giant Huawei has confirmed that Microsoft is demanding royalty payments from it over products using Android software. Think they want to arm twist HW to start producing Windows 8 phones ;-) The more things change the more the remain the same. I don't think they want to arm twist them to make win8 phones, it is rumoured that M$ are making more money from Android manufacturer's than is coming in from their phone division, so they would like to rope in as many as possible - They already have deals with about 8 manufacturer's so far and Huawei will be a nice addition for their royalties :-) ./Ok3ch On Tue, Nov 8, 2011 at 9:35 PM, David Kiania | Asentric Consulting Ltd <kianiadee@gmail.com> wrote:

I beg anyone who knows what Android borrowed from M$ to let me in on the secret, please. What is it that is attracting this royalty, that even Apple is not yet enjoying yet we kontinue to swipe on our Android screens?? -- Best regards, Odhiambo WASHINGTON, On Wed, Nov 9, 2011 at 07:50, Okechukwu <okechukwu@gmail.com> wrote:

Its really funny, coz they owe more to Apple than M$ and since M$ is negotiating and Apple is taking them to court, they would rather negotiate and counter-sue. Any 'new' phone operating system such as Android, iOS and all, all borrow heavily as a base of their design from the older Symbian & Windows - What I never understand is that Nokia should be making the most noise and getting royalties from everyone, but they are quiet! ./Ok3ch ./Ok3ch On Wed, Nov 9, 2011 at 8:51 AM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com> wrote:

@mcD; A little googling will save you, MSFT makes more money dishing out handset software licenses than they make selling handset windows. In fact they have a strategy to ride on Android. On Wed, Nov 9, 2011 at 9:17 AM, Joseph McDonald <mcdonaldoj@gmail.com>wrote:

This is like Road rash or need for speed, you race you remain number one after making the comp opponents crush and hit the walls and then you are close to the finish line, you loose control they pass you almost all of them, you loose how sad. I mean MSF is buying and buying 'royality' then one morning they are buying no more because there will be a rise of new technology like there have been, and ooops! McD, Some critics believe that Microsoft has stopped innovating and is instead turned to spoiling google's party by going after small parties and not Google itself. Patents last 20 years, what next?

Key patents include filesystem mainly fat found in memory cards, key messaging protocols. Android basically rips of tech from windows mobile and oracles java and product/gui design from apples iphone/ios On 11/9/11, Dennis Kioko <dmbuvi@gmail.com> wrote:
