Hello skunks, Anyone using the above service? How is the experience, especially while streaming 1080p videos. Also, how is the support like during down times? Kind regards, Joseph.

The thing with these home links is that like this 5MB link, if you end up consuming 5GB in less than 24hrs, your speed drops considerably until the next day! The capacity is equated to your daily data download/consumption, i.e. 5MB = 5GB; 10MB = 10GB... When links go down, JTL has one of the worst support system - with liars in there:-) On 22 March 2016 at 13:03, Joseph Koech via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

This sounds funny, I just checked my Android phone recently and in 2 days I had consumed 1.2GB and we are 6 users in the house using different gadgets. I have used it for over 6 months now. Speeds are OK when streaming, gets sluggish after sometime I bet its when they cap it. On customer service I have not experienced any downtime that warrants their support so I cant judge but I was kept in the queue for 3 months before they came to do my installation.. Was getting ready to switch to them on the 10mbs residential, but that 10gb per day cap is kinda limiting. It means per month you're limited to around 300gb, if you upload a lot of youtube videos or use round the clock online backup then you'd finish your 10gb by afternoon. Regards, John K. Thank you all for your feedback. I never knew about capping. I thought all fibre internet connections would be unlimited like zuku. Unfortunately, zuku isn't available in my location. Only JTL. Kind regards, Joseph On 23 Mar 2016 09:22, "John K. via skunkworks" <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Is Mbps same as MB? Thought one measures speed in bits per second while the other measures size in bytes. My technology blonde moment On 22 Mar 2016 13:08, "Joseph Koech via skunkworks" < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Mbps is not the same as MBps. A common misconception. You need a speed of 8Mbps Megabit/s to achieve a transfer rate of 1MByte per second. Link speeds are in Mbps therefore a 5Mbps link at best can transfer about 600Kilobytes of data per second. JTL only caps torrents and p2p traffic once you hit 5GB for 5mbps, 10 GB for 10mbps, 20GB for 20mbps. All the caps are only on torrents other protocols work fine well over the cap data is reached.
