Hi y'all,
I have an interesting problem: I need to copy videos that were recorded on a cctv system. The videos are on two harddisks. Connecting the disks to a pc or via usb with an adapter & casing doesn't work.
I was told the only way the videos can be copied is if they are in a DVR machine. The client I got them from is using theirs so I need to get me a temporary one to do the transfer.
Can anyone assist?

There is a high chance that the filesystem is ext2 or ext4 - ie. linux. There is a windows driver for that (google "windows ext2 filesystem") or just plug the drive(s) into a linux box. hth, Tony On 12/07/2016, Mutinda Kitana via skunkworks <skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Most of the DVR's I know have an encrypted file system, so you need the DVR to decrypt ./Ok3ch On Wed, Jul 13, 2016 at 7:07 AM, Tony White via skunkworks < skunkworks@lists.my.co.ke> wrote:

Thanks Tony and ./Ok3ch, I have two options now: the guys who supplied the DVR are willing to help copy the files to an external disk for a fee, OR I can just boot my comp with Ubuntu or Mint, mount the disks and do the extraction myself. The latter option seems much more attractive from here...hope it works. Regards, Mutinda. On Wed, Jul 13, 2016 at 8:31 AM, Okechukwu <okechukwu@gmail.com> wrote:

Good point, ./Ok3ch, I hadn't considered that :( So, per your original reply - what is the make/model of the DVR? Tony On 13/07/2016, Okechukwu <okechukwu@gmail.com> wrote:
