I haven't used WebSense, but the key towards resolving such problems is in the logging! You must decide on the appropriate logging levels for you to be able to visualize what is happening. You can even activate debug logging but that would be a last resort. Increase the logging levels of the two engines (Proxy and AD) or any intermediary applications that are interacting in this scenario.
