Link sms with database
Is it possible to link sms to a particular number to database such that say the sms has entries like age, gender, name etc and the same entries are replicated on the database. This way you have people in the field collecting data and updating the database via sms. Sms is preferred since not all field agents have smart phones. So if not sms, is short code an option? If you want to learn new things i suggest you do the following: - Install and deploy an SMS gateway like Kannel. Make sure it connects to the modem that will be used to receive the messages. - Setup your Kannel config to forward all messages to a script / API where you will be able to parse messages and store them to a DB. - Agree on a message format so that messages can be parsed using a simple algorithm.
