Guys I'm in a dilemma. I configured my outlook to download my gmail mails. It worked out well.....what i wanted basically is to get the emails, and delete the account but i did not want to lose my mails. It was ok, i deleted the account, then i realized that outlook would not display my mails....They have headers, like when it was sent, who sent it, the subject, but no body. Not possible that it was a POP3 account! You did actually setup IMAP4, which only downloads mail headers for display, but retrieves body only when you open (RETR) the mail, and only when you are online. I'm in a dilemma. I configured my outlook to download my gmail mails. It worked out well.....what i wanted basically is to get the emails, and delete the account but i did not want to lose my mails. It was ok, i deleted the account, then i realized that outlook would not display my mails....They have headers, like when it was sent, who sent it, the subject, but no body. What did i do wrong and how can i fix it??

That is normal with IMAP4 account. Not POP3. In POP3 account, you even have a .pst file with all the e-mails. Can you please see if you have one and what is the size? File -> Data File Management -> select the data file then click "Open Folder". You initial description tells about an IMAP4 account setup, not POP3. You were definitely using IMAP and not POP. The emails you were seeing on your outlook client were downloaded onto a temporary cache which tries to keep in sync with what is on the online server so once you deleted Gmail it synced and got rid of the local cache
