Is it possible globally to jump technologies? Isn't there some sort of regulation against that? On Thu, Jun 20, 2013 at 12:13 PM, Adam Nelson <adam@varud.com> wrote:

YU applies for 3G Licence because 4G/LTE is still long way away. Hmm, How are they gonna roll out, or will they share the masts with Safaricom/Airtel/Orange? What strategy do they have for this 3G anyway? Is money in the data? While that was happening, Swift Global finally bit the dust! Interesting times. Zuku had their share of issues - being taken to court too for some content licensing matters. Okay, I cease to be the prophet of doom! On 19 June 2013 10:38, Okechukwu <okechukwu@gmail.com> wrote:

It seems crazy to build out 3g infrastructure in 2013. I suspect that they are going to leverage existing access points (airtel/orange) as you say and then deploy their own LTE network if they can raise the funds --- OpenStack for Africa: http://signup.kili.io Musings: https://twitter.com/varud About Adam: https://www.linkedin.com/in/adamcnelson On Thu, Jun 20, 2013 at 12:49 PM, Odhiambo Washington <odhiambo@gmail.com>wrote:

It may as well be a ploy to raise the profile & hype of the company before selling it off. I choose to read in between the lines<http://www.businessdailyafrica.com/Corporate-News/Essar-mulls-Yu-mobile-sale-to-strategic-investor-/-/539550/1879608/-/5ri3pfz/-/index.html>
